Flashback to 2004. In that year, George Bush got 1.7 million votes in Virginia – more than any statewide candidate in history – and beat John Kerry. In 2008, John McCain got the same 1.7 million votes…but lost by seven points.
What happened? Nothing short of a historic surge in the Democratic vote. Between 2004 and 2008, the number of Democratic voters increased by 504,000.
That’s why the June 30 deadline is so important. We need to have the resources to reach these 504,000 voters. Help us reach our $100,000 end of quarter goal today!
So, while McDonnell is imploring his donors to vote for him because he’ll govern effectively on the economy, Deeds is looking to sheer numbers and politicking for what appears to be merely voter ID.
