I’ll vote for Pat Mullins! He actually votes!
Read the story of Bill Stanley’s record of not voting. If you can’t vote why should you lead! Pat Mullins for Chairman!
I’m undecided but leaning Stanley, I’ll decide at Convention.
Stanley, but I need to speak to Mullins on Friday just to be fair.
Are voting records open to the public?
I have no idea and thats pretty dam sad frankly.
Pat Mullins Now!
Bill does not even answer his phone messages!
Pat is a strong conservative leader not a follower and can lead us to victory!
Pat doesn’t even do podcast or emails! Rabble rabble. Stanley is the obvious choice.
I don’t even understand how this is a question Stanley has raised more money, has more organization, did a great job in franklin county, and actually understands technology.
Vote for Pat and your so-called grassroots revolution is over.
Voting Records arrant but your registration is public records and he wasn’t Registered for like 3 years…
Lee – More bad info. Bill not only voted in 2004, but at the time his girlfriend – from England – just became a citizen and he made sure she voted Bush/Cheney. The blog is likely off base because they say Bill moved back to Franklin in the late 90s, he actually didn’t change his residence and place of voting from Fairfax until 2004. Maybe they should have checked with him first before of posting false info.
OMG so then how could he have voted in Fairfax and live in Franklin?
Did he vote… tell the truth Gerry…
Sounds like some of these double Obama voters tactics.
So why didn’t the posts say he was not registered instead of saying he did not vote…..sounds like someone is getting desperate.
Seriously, this is childish.
well last time I checked if your not registered you can’t vote. Unless you are Democrat but thats another story for another time
Pat Mullins has my support.
Lee – you’re being silly. You accuse him of not voting, then of double voting like an Obama follower? Pick one, buddy and roll with it!
The guy’s facts are wrong, pure and simple, but if you want to believe a rumor that’s your choice, you were supporting the other guy anyway. Just don’t spread it when you don’t even have the years of residency right. “Sources indicate…” is supposed to pass for proof? Who’s pushing this crap?
I think the point of this post by Jim was for people to offer substantive qualifications, not baseless accusations. Bill has done an excellent job in Franklin Co., and will be a great state party chairman. I’d hope you can make the case for your guy on the merits. Give it a shot.
Gerry,
Not double voting but voting in one place while living in another.
As for my guy Pat Mullins its simple. Has Bill Stanley ever raised so much money as a committee chairman that they changed state law because of it. NOOOOOO I DONT THINK SO! Pat Mullins has!
Lee:
Let’s settle this matter about my voting once and for all. I have been a registered voter in Virginia since 1988; voted Bush 41; voted for him again in ’92; workedas a lawyer on the legal team that sued President Clinton in 1994 (not voting, but still involved in the process nonetheless); Dole in 1996, Bush 2000, Bush 2004.., and of course all local and statewide Republican candidates have always gotten my vote on every occasion. Quite frankly, I have voted in every election in Virginia except for 2002 and 2003. I have never been “unregistered,” as you suggest–that is just plain silly.
Also, the blog is completely wrong. I lived in Fairfax (and briefly Loudoun) from 1978 to 2004, and I am not from Franklin, although I would like to believe that I am, as it is my home now. I did not live briefly in Fairfax in the 90′s and move back home to Franklin as the blog suggests.
As a lawyer, I keep complete records and journals of my time. In 2002, I was in a deposition and settlement conference in a med malpractice case in Alexandria until 9 pm on election day, away from my polling place and could not make it back to Fairfax to vote before the polls closed. In 2003, I was in Pittsylvania Court trying a case all day, therefore, I could not vote in Fairfax, where I lived at the time, because I didn’t make it back home to Fairfax until after the polls closed. As a lawyer, my obligations are first to my client, as is required. In 2004, I voted in Fairfax for Bush/Cheney, in Fairfax, no question. I still lived there, and only transfered my registration to Franklin County when I moved there in December of 2004.
Out of 20 years as a registered voter, I missed two off-year local elections due to the requirements of my profession. Hmmmm, 90% would have gotten you an “A” in your civics class, would it not? This seems a bit nit-picky to me. Lee, have you never missed an opportunity to vote due to professional obligations out of town, or due to pressing family matters?
Can you prove that Pat never missed a single opportunity to vote in his lifetime ? Now that you have the facts, does that help? My voting record would never change your mind, it has been clear who you support, and that’s fine with me. The election for Chairman is not about a voting record, but is rather about whether we stick with the same-old formula for failure, or whether we transform our Party into a principled and efficient vehicle for our message that breeds success at the ballot box. To me, failure is not an option, because I hate to lose more than I love to win..
Bill Stanley.
Gerry,
Bill Stanley has done a great job in Franklin County -For just over a year. No prior leadership experience in our party. He was never really involved other than as a helper for Gil Davis, his employer, in NOVA.
What other unit chair with such meager experience thinks he should be state chair ? NONE.
He has no record of support for conservatives not working in the grassroots.
Who is Bill Stanley really ?
Pat Mullins has a long record of experience and assistance to conservatives.
Remember guys, was Scimeca hired at RPV for competence or because he supported Frederick ? What did Scimeca do at RPV to make him know what a good chair would be ? NOTHING
Scimeca has never been anything but a paid campaigner. This is not about who can best run a campaign but who can best lead our party.
Bill,
You must have known you had court cases the days you did and clearly could have voted absentee if you really saw it as important. You just didn’t think it was.
2002 was not just a local race but a U. S. Senate race also. 2003 was not just local races but a legislative year also. Those are important elections.
Bill, you just do not have the experience the job needs. Tell us please what Republican experience you have in leadership roles that qualify you. When you were in Nova, what leadership positions did you hold outside of working for Gil Davis ? Have you ever been a precinct chairman ? How many state central meetings have you ever attended ? How many state conventions have you attended other than last year ? Have you ever served on any committees at any state convention ? Have you ever served on any committees at the district level ? How long have you been a member of the Franklin committee ? Have you held any office other than chairman of the Franklin committee since you moved there in 2004 ?
We really would like to know
Bill,
Thank you for your response
and the answer is NO I haven’t missed voting having cast my votes in every election major state and federal election since being of voting age since the 92 elections. In fact when faced with family tragedies of my beloved grandfather in 1996 and my mother in 2000 being in the hospital and DYING, I made a CLEAR and DIRECT effort to vote in large part to honor their efforts in teaching me the value of that vote and the respect / love of this great country of ours. I’m sorry you couldn’t be 100% because of your lack of planning and management of your time. Such efforts or lack thereof I think do show light into what you would bring to the table as chairman, a somewhat ok effort but things come up so you may or may no be there for our Party. That is NOT what I want in a chairman of our great Party. So I challenge you sir. Focus on your profession, support your family those are good things but give your support to Pat Mullins as he is the better man for this position and can work with you as a unit chairman to grow our Party that much more. After all that is why you are running isn’t it? Is it about YOU Bill or is it about the Republican Party and America herself? That is what I want to know!
Would be nice to ask and have answered the same questions of Pat Mullins….has he been precinct captain, has he been elected to any office, all since moving to Louisa County. Or, is all that matters what happened over a decade ago??? Money raised. That’s it. Money? Or yeah, and has he voted in every single election?
How about this one? How many regular monthly meetings of the Louisa Republican Committee has the Chairman attended?
Oh, but he won’t comment here because he says the site is pro-Stanley.
Thank you Mr. Stanley for speaking for yourself…again. It’s refreshing.
As an indepedent non-Republican reader of this website, who has been following the saga of the RPV chairmanship, I’d say Mr Stanley has ably defended himself against the charges of being a non-voter. I think that should be a non-issue. Those that would continue to make an issue of it exemplify why the GOP internal strife is so contentious and to the outside absurd. You would think that as difficult a position the GOP has been in, you would want to focus on identifying which of the two candidates will bring the most skill in organaniztion, unifying the GOP, and selling your message to non-GOP voters while remaing true to your core principles. Focusing on trivialities such as this seem a watse of effort.
[...] the old guard support. His challenger, Bill Stanley, has gotten a lot of grassroots support, and in this comment, disputes claims of not voting in prior [...]
My vote? Round and round she goes, where she stops . . . .
Anybody have a dart?
Lee you and your perfect voting record should run for something. I am sure your campaign will also be perfect and you will have perfect media coverage and new more perfect conservative ideas.
I am obviously kidding and am attempting to be (however I am probably failing) to be funny.
As noted above this is silly.
Stanley has the energy, conservative value, technology skills, and ability to get the rpv back on track.
Mullins’ past service is amazing, but it is time to enbrace the 21st century and to stop losing the technology and information battle to the crazy democrats
aaron,
I actually appreciate the humor. Perhaps in my perfect campaign you can be my speech writer.
I didnt intend to come off as perfect but I wanted to compare the value of the vote between myself and Mr Stanley. However, its all done for now and lets move forward I congratulate Bill on being involved in our party and the work he has done in Franklin County and I look forward to seeing him and Pat working together to get Bob, Bill and Ken elected.
I am actually glad Bill ran against Pat. Pat won big so now that will put to rest the charge that Pat was selected and not elected. Pat can now work to unite all Republican activist so we can elect our ticket. Lets put the last year behind us and return Republican leadership to the Commonwealth.
Way to go, Pat! Now we have a dedicated and experienced RPV Chairman who can steer our Party to Victory in November. Hats off to Bill Stanley as well. You did a great job of making your case to our Convention and you gave us a good choice for Chairman. That is part of what makes this Party great! Thank for your service and for what you do in Franklin County for our GOP!
Now on to Victory in November with Bob McDonnell, Bill Bolling and Ken Cuccinelli! Sign up to make our Super Saturday Walks, tell your friends and family about our positive pro-jobs and pro-growth campaign here in the greatest state in the Union! TOGETHER WE WILL WIN!
