Former NASCAR Driver Hermie Sadler Will Run for Open 17th State Senate District

On Wednesday night, November 9th, this humble contributor was treated to the most substantial campaign kickoff he has ever experienced in all his years of politics.

The campaign that put on this kick-off was Hermie Sadler. Mr. Sadler, 53, announced he is running for the Republican nomination for the 17th Senate District, a newly created district from the last round of redistricting on Dec 29, 2021.

Sadler faces Delegate Emily Brewer, who is also seeking the nomination for this seat.

The event kicked off at 6:30 pm, and many local elected officials, including Senator Bill Stanley and Delegate Otto Wachsmann, were there to support among the 200 people in total attended the event.

I spoke with Hermie Sadler and this is what he had to say about his campaign:

“I have always stayed out of politics …. but the election next year is just too important to stay on the sidelines. Not only will this race play a big role in deciding control of the Senate of Virginia, but our area of Virginia needs a strong voice to stand up and fight. I look forward to taking my message across the district and giving Virginians in the 17th a choice.”

Speaking of choice, many folks made the significant choice to donate that night to the campaign. They raised over $100,000 in one evening. That, my friends, shows a serious candidate and a serious campaign.
