Trump Lawyer Slanders CIA in Anti-American Broadside
Sidney Powell doesn’t look anything like Rudy Giuliani, but she managed to fly past him into the role of worst Trump attorney over the weekend.
Powell was a guest of Maria Bartiromo on Fox News Sunday, during which she put forth the latest nonsensical conspiracy from her client: that Dominion Voting Systems deleted Trump votes and switched others to Biden. Never mind that it had already been debunked by the Department of Homeland Security, among others (USA Today), Powell had a story and she was sticking to it.
In the process, she did more to sully the democratic world – and her own country – than anything our enemies could have dreamt. As Aaron Rupar (Vox) put it, “this woman who sounds like she’s reading an Infowars article is an attorney for the President of the United States.” This is what she said about DVS and election software…
“…how corrupt the software is, and nobody in our government has paid any attention to it which makes me wonder how much the CIA has used it for its own benefit in different places…”
That’s right, Powell is so wedded to this conspiracy theory that, via the “makes me wonder” cover, she accused the Central Intelligence Agency of rigging other countries’ elections.
If that wasn’t enough, she doubled down a day later, as Marshall Cohen of CNN noted:
She says the “rigged” election against Trump was part of a larger plot by FBI, CIA, Google and Twitter to commit massive voter fraud in other democracies too.

This is the kind of thing that can not only damage our credibility, but that of every nation that elects a government not approved by Vladimir Putin or Xi Jinping. Apparently unsatisfied with blowing up American democracy, Trump and his legal team are now tossing political hand grenades all around the democratic world.
The only American who might be better off from all this is Giuliani – who is no longer the worst lawyer Trump has.
Whatever one thinks of Rudy Giuliani, he has avoided accusing his own country of rigging elections around the world. It’s a low bar, but it tripped Sidney Powell.
