No Shutdown Deal for Senate, Will Try Again at Noon Monday

By 9:30 Sunday evening the U.S. Senate had adjourned without Republicans or Democrats getting any closer to an agreement about ending the government shutdown. The shuttering of government agencies that began at midnight Saturday now moves into Day 3.

A vote had been expected by 1:00 a.m. Monday but that has been postponed and the Senate will reconvene at noon on Monday [1].

According to the Washington Post [1], a bipartisan group of moderate senators from both sides had worked throughout Sunday hoping to broker a deal that would have allowed government agencies to be open on Monday. That hope is now dashed.

At a time when a flu outbreak is occurring nationwide, the Center for Disease Control is closed and not available to help with flu or anything else.  That, of course, if just the tip of the iceberg.

There had been no word as of 11:00 p.m. Sunday about a Monday schedule for the U.S. House.
