This was a major year for Bearing Drift – perhaps our best yet.
Not only were we able to turn our electronic magazine into print, but we also joined forces with the Score Radio Network making Bearing Drift the only full-spectrum media outlet dedicated to the Virginia conservative. (as an aside – please vote for “The Score” as best talk show!)
Because of this effort, what previously was a hobby suddenly became nearly a full-time operation – and there are costs, both personal and financial (oftentimes both, and Mrs. Bearing Drift is not quite a fan of that, but is supportive).
Yet, because we remember our roots as a blog, we’re attempting to offer all our products still for free, while all the contributors, me included, continue to do this as a hobby and labor of love. It’s the passion for free speech and free expression – and advancing conservative ideas – that gives us our greatest motivation.
Without going into the details of how much it costs to produce each issue of the magazine or the radio program, just know that we have to spend thousands of dollars to do so.
To this point, we’ve managed to eek-out enough advertising to take care of our expenses, but one look at our balance sheet clearly shows we need your help.
A conservative knows there’s no such thing as a free lunch. There are always costs. And, for the past seven years, I have attempted to bring you the best political analysis and conservative commentary in the commonwealth.
Day after day, Bearing Drift contributors have been here for you – to start conversations and to participate in them with you. Hopefully advancing understanding of issues and challenging each others perspective.
Even if you haven’t agreed with us, we believe in the free exchange of ideas and have always welcomed opposing views. We’ve given you a platform for ideas and discussion – some more than others :-).
All we are asking now is a little appreciation and a little support for seven years of service and counting.

$1 for 1 year of effort. Less than 1/3 of one-cent for each day we’ve been around. That’s pretty much free, right?
Our goal is to raise $7000 by New Year’s Day – and that doesn’t give us much time. But we are nearly 50 per cent of the way there, thanks to the generosity of nearly 50 readers.
Yet there are more than 1000 unique visitors to this website each day – surely some of you will consider a small donation to continuing conservative commentary for the commonwealth?
Conservatives certainly know there’s no such thing as a free lunch. And Liberals believe in handouts. Surely all our readers will find some reason to support the effort!
