The on-going saga at RPV has pretty much played itself out until April 4.
Over the next few weeks, we may see each side roll out support for their various positions, but the letter or intent by the State Central Committee late last week and Chairman Jeff Frederick’s letter to the grassroots, which pretty much signals that he has no intention of going quietly, is pretty much all that needs to be known about this issue.
Regardless, Gerry Scimeca, long-time Frederick confidant and current Communications Director at RPV, stated that Frederick does not intend to back down, but wants to move forward..
““The Chairman’s chief concern still remains the Party and winning the governorship in ’09,” said Scimeca. “Obviously he believes this is an unnecessary distraction and wants to move past it. The ideal situation would be a reconciliation and hopefully that remains an option.”
Scimeca stressed that Frederick prefers to resolve this internally, but will stand-up for what he feels is right.
“Jeff’s a fighter,” concluded Scimeca.
Most of the elected GOP leadership in Virginia is resolved that Frederick must step-aside, yet Frederick was elected at a state convention last year with approximately 5000 people in attendance and is due to serve three more years.
