Vote Today! Ballotpedia’s Holiday Cookie Election 2024 – Finalists Announced
Ballotpedia’s Holiday Cookie 2024 primary has found four finalists who advance to the general election that is now taking place.
“Due to increased cookie candidates, Ballotpedia decided to open this year’s election up to a primary and a general in order to narrow the field. Primary voters will pick their top 3 candidates from the full field of 8. Polls open today, Tuesday, December 10, through Friday, Dec. 13, at 5:00 pm ET.,” reported Ballotpedia at the election’s start. Because of a tie for third place, there are four finalists.
The original eight cookie candidates were Sugar cookie, Chocolate Chip, Chocolate Peppermint Bark cookie, Gingerbread cookie, Peanut Butter Blossom, Snickerdoodle, Thumbprint, and Oatmeal Raisin.
The incumbent, winner of last year’s Cookie Contest, was Chocolate Chip who noted in its candidate profile, “How can voters go wrong with chocolate chip? Answer: They can’t. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” Cookie candidate profiles can be found here.
The finalists are:
- Chocolate chip cookie (incumbent) (35%)
- Snickerdoodle (35%)
- Gingerbread cookie (38%)
- Sugar cookie (45.5%)
You have until 5pm tomorrow, Thursday, Dec. 19, to vote for your favorite. Cast your vote here.
I voted for Gingerbread. It won me over with its key message in its profile: “You want your elected cookie to have integrity. I have a proven record of structural integrity. Have you ever tried to build a house with a Peanut Butter Blossom? A quintessential classic, no matter where you are, the scent of these baking transports you back to your Grandmother’s kitchen.”
Well, I’m not a grandmother but I certainly bake lots of gingerbread people for the holidays, and the house always smells seasonal with gingerbread wafting through the air.
Get your vote in before the polls close tomorrow at 5. May the best cookie win!
