Under this bill, parents would be able to receive a direct tax CREDIT (not a deduction, but a CREDIT) for a certain portion of child care expenses on their federal tax return.

In addition, low income families would get a direct financial reimbursement of child care expenses from the government, even if they pay no federal taxes.

So, the question of the day is this: Should the government (taxpayers) pay for a family’s child care expenses, or should these expenses be the responsibility of the parents/family?
