The Augusta County Board of Supervisors will conduct Public Hearings at the 7 p.m. meeting, Wednesday, December 13, 2023, in the Board Meeting Room, Augusta County Government Center, 18 Government Center Lane, Verona, Virginia.
The Augusta County Board of Supervisors will conduct a Public Hearing during the regular meeting at 7 p.m., Wednesday, December 13, 2023, in the Board Meeting Room, Augusta County Government Center, 18 Government Center Lane, Verona, Virginia to consider the following:
- An ordinance to repeal Augusta County Code Section 2-47, creating the Valley Alcohol Safety Action Program (VASAP) and to authorize the dissolution and the winding up of the affairs of such program at the request of the Policy Board of VASAP.
- An ordinance to amend Chapter 25. Zoning. Division A. In General. Article VI.D. Solar Energy Systems. Section 25-70.1. Definitions. Amendment adds the definition of Fenced in Area to define the land area that includes the photovoltaic panels, stormwater facility, and landscaping that will be taken out of land use. The Amendment updates the definition for large solar energy systems and small solar energy systems to include everything within the fenced in area that occupies less than or equal to (small energy systems) or greater than (large energy systems) 25 acres.
- An ordinance to amend Chapter 25. Zoning. Division A. In General. Article VI.D. Solar Energy Systems. Section 25-70.4. Uses permitted by Special Use Permit by the Board of Zoning Appeals. The Amendment adds the provision for Small Solar Energy Systems to be prohibited in Planning Policy Areas designated as Urban Service Areas and Community Development Areas within the Comprehensive Plan. Amendment also adds the standard for the proximity of small solar energy systems to not be sited within two miles of an approved or existing small or large solar energy system.
- An ordinance to amend Chapter 25. Zoning. Division A. In General. Article VI.D. Solar Energy Systems. Section 25-70.6. Uses permitted by Special Use Permit by the Board of Supervisors. The Amendment adds the provision for Large Solar Energy Systems to be prohibited in Planning Policy Areas designated as Urban Service Areas and Community Development Areas within the Comprehensive Plan.
- An ordinance to amend Chapter 25. Zoning. Division A. In General. Article VI.D. Solar Energy Systems. Section 25-70.8. Location, Appearance and Operation of a Project Site. Amendment adds the standard for the proximity of large solar energy systems to not be sited within two miles of an approved or existing small or large solar energy system.
- A request to withdraw 6.331 acres owned by Charles and Donna Patterson from the Middle River Agricultural and Forestal District. The district currently contains approximately 5,500 acres situated in the Middle River District of Augusta County, Virginia, lying east of Interstate 81; both east and west sides of Route 778 (Knightly Mill Road), Route 774 (Broad Run Road), Route 774 (Cline River Road), and Route 865 (Rockfish Road); both north and south sides of Route 608 (Battlefield Road), Route 775 (Buttermilk Road), and Route 775 (Craig Shop Road); on the north side of Route 777 (Knightly Lane); both north and south sides of Route 728 (Patterson Mill Road); on the southwest side of Route 774 (Piedmont Road) on either side of Route 616 (Dam Town Road).
