Trump Re-Asserts Himself as Putin’s #1 Fan

Facing more charges from Jack Smith on l’affaire documents, Trump retreated to his safe space this weekend – his own virtual Red Square, if you will. Trump has many ways to justify his actions and defend himself – and many needs to do the same. That he chose to re-run the 2019 impeachment scenario is revealing (Washington Post).
Former president Donald Trump called on congressional Republicans to withhold military support for Ukraine until the Biden administration cooperates with their investigations into the president and his son Hunter Biden’s business dealings.
The demand, delivered at a rally in Pennsylvania on Saturday, echoed Trump’s conduct at issue during his first impeachment, when Trump withheld aid from Ukraine while pressuring the country’s president to announce an investigation of Biden.
There are differences between breaking the law and asking for similar action legally. That’s not the point here – as much as the WaPo‘s writers might think it is. The critical part is that Trump is – again – calling for a halt to aiding a nation under attack from Vladimir Putin.
Donald Trump knows his only way to avoid Johnny Law is to become Johnny’s boss. He knows he has to win the Republican nomination first. He knows the way to do that is to win the Moscow Primary.
None of this should be a surprise anymore.
