Three Augusta Residents Apply For Interim BOS Seat

Three South River District residents successfully submitted resumes to serve as interim supervisor after former Supervisor Steve Morelli, who had served since 2020, resigned in March for personal reasons.

The three who applied are Carolyn Bragg, James Kindig, and Randall Wolf. The candidate who is selected will serve through the end of this year.

Carolyn Bragg served as South River supervisor for five years before resigning in 2019 to run for the Augusta County Clerk of Court position. Because she knows the job, she would be able to hit the ground running. (See her application here.)

James Kindig ran for the seat in 2019 in a three-way race that included Morelli and Randall Wolf. (See his application here.)

Randall Wolf also ran for the seat in 2019. His desire as the interim supervisor is to be a bridge until the end of the term so the district can vote for a new supervisor in November. He has no plans to run for the seat at that time. (See his application here.)

Candidate interviews will take place Wednesday, April 19, beginning at 4:00 pm (News-Virginian):

The interviews will be live streamed on Facebook and Regional Web TV. Augusta County Administrator Tim Fitzgerald said all three candidates will be interviewed at the same time. Supervisors will go into closed session after the interviews to consider a decision. Fitzgerald said it is possible that a decision on the new supervisor could be made Wednesday.

November’s election will choose a supervisor for the upcoming four-year term.
