Thoughts about events 10 years ago….
An old report appeared in my news feed this afternoon, reminding me that it was 10 years ago today that I announced that I would not be a candidate for Governor of Virginia in 2013.
A lot has happened since 2013, but 10 years later I find myself in a good place, enjoying life, and grateful for the opportunity to teach government and politics to the next generation of Virginia leaders. Sure, I sometimes regret that I did not achieve my goal of serving as Governor, but I’ve learned that some of the best things that happen to you in life are the things you wouldn’t have happen.
Or, as Garth Brooks put it, “Thank God for unanswered prayers!”
