WOW! Talk about hutzpah!
The Fairfax County Board of Supervisors has voted to give themselves a 30% pay raise: Fairfax County supervisors raise board salaries amid opposition – The Washington Post [1].
This will bring a supervisor’s salary to $123,283/year! In an equally magnanimous gesture, the Board voted to give other county employees a 2% pay raise.
And how will they pay for this and other public programs? By increasing the local real estate tax that every citizen pays by an average of $520/year!
I think it’s safe to say that anyone who voted for this proposal should be kicked out of office if they seek reelection in November, but alas, I suspect most of them will be reelected and enjoy the benefits of the public’s largess for another four years.
