Chair Bennie Thompson and Vice Chair Liz Cheney will lead the continuing inquiry into those who were behind the violent attack on the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021.
The U.S. House Jan. 6 Select Committee [1], after taking a break during the August congressional summer recess, and after postponing a late September hearing due to Hurricane Ian hitting the U.S., is back and set to hold its next hearing [2] this Thursday, October 13, at 1:00 pm.
As with the past well-researched and documented hearings, this one is expected to present additional information and unseen video connecting dots that may include the former president’s role in the riot. Witnesses at previous hearings, many from Trump’s administration, have testified that they told him there was nothing to back up his claims of voter fraud during the 2020 presidential election.
With millions of Americans tuning in to the hearings that have been held during the day as well as in the evenings throughout June and July, it is interesting to note that the #1 best seller recently on Amazon was The January 6 Report [3] with an intro by Ari Melber.
The committee continues to gather information and listen to witnesses.
Calling for violence, vandalizing the U.S. Capitol building, and hunting for Congressional Representatives and Senators to hurt even as mobs hunt down the Vice President while chanting, “Hang Mike Pence,” is … not normal. It’s not Republican and it’s not American, at least not the Republican party and America I know.
