Public Information Session: Augusta County Courthouse Referendum
September 22, 2022 | 6:30 pm (Presentation 7 pm) | Government Center
A Public Information Session presenting information on the courthouse projects and referendum will be held on Thursday, September 22, 2022. The session will begin at 6:30 pm with a formal presentation starting at 7 pm.
The Courthouse Referendum, on the ballot for the general election on November 8, 2022, will allow Augusta County voters to decide where to build the new courthouse building – on the site of the current district courts building in downtown Staunton or in Augusta County near the Government Center in Verona.
The referendum on the ballot will read as follows:
Under Virginia law, Augusta County must provide an adequate court facility for the Augusta County Courts. To accomplish that purpose:
Shall the county courthouse be relocated to Augusta County at a cost of $80,026,447?
Shall the county courthouse remain in the City of Staunton at a cost of $103,855,525?
Information about the Referendum and both courthouse project proposals can be found at www.AugustaCountyVA.gov/
