Riot? (Definition [1]: a violent public disorder; tumultuous disturbance of the public peace.)
Insurrection? (Definition [2]: a usually violent attempt to take control of a government.)
Whatever you call it, tomorrow is the one-year anniversary of the violent January 6 attack [3] on the U.S. Capitol. This afternoon the U.S. Attorney General will address the issues surrounding investigations by the Justice Department on the status of the investigation at this point (Washington Post [4]):
Garland will not speak about specific people or charges, according to a Justice Department official, speaking on the condition of anonymity Monday because the speech had not yet been officially announced.
The remarks, which will be delivered in the Great Hall and streamed on the Justice Department’s website [5], will begin at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, the department said.
Those involved in investigating 1/6 expect it may take years.
