We have served as a moderating force between the waves and chop of the two political fringes and most extreme extremes in years past.
We do this out of the goodness of our hearts – and because our passion for the politics of the Commonwealth runs deep. Op-eds, breaking news, podcasts – we do it because we love it, not because we are collecting a paycheck. We do it to keep Virginia on the right course. I have done my best to navigate these waters in these times where the future of conservatism is a jump ball. And boy, the chop is strong – I don’t have to tell you that.
Through my opinion posts and Grand New Podcast, I was honored to be welcomed into the Bearing Drift family to provide a millennial perspective in a party where I am in the minority. It was my mission to find balance and the sweet spot between Reaganism and populism which in this day and age isn’t going anywhere. I’ve always been a realist, and have always tried to be an honest broker with my readers and listeners. The mission of the site I have tried to always incorporate in all my work – and the lessons I have learned during my time at this site are ample.
I am forever grateful for the opportunity to provide my commentary to the Commonwealth on this platform. However, it is with this piece that I must inform you that I will be sailing in new waters, but the mission of calming the waters of political collision will endure.
I am grateful and thankful to my editor-in-chief Lynn Mitchell for taking a chance on me. I am grateful to every commentator in the comments section for always holding me to account and making me stronger – even if you were a pain in the ass. I want to thank every listener of the Grand New Podcast, the birthplace of the rallying cry and slogan to sweep the gubernatorial race – Virginia Runs on Youngkin. I want to thank all who have supported me in my quest to heal the Republican Party, bridge the divides, and move forward in a world as we find it – and not as it should be.
It is my hope that Bearing Drift always chooses to ease the sheets, as Christopher Walken exclaimed in the film Wedding Crashers, and swings the jib starboard. I know I will be – because to the RIGHT is the only collision course forward for the Commonwealth and America.
