Op-Ed: Do Not Be Fooled

We all know the media is out there trying desperately to tie Virginia Republican statewide candidates to Trump in a last-ditch effort to help Terry McAuliffe across the finish line.

Case-in-point:  Last night, former Trump advisor Steve Bannon hosted a rally in Virginia in support of Virginia candidates, which was attended by exactly zero of the statewides. Nor was it touted by RPV.

Glenn Youngkin was not there.
Winsome Sears was not there.
Jason Miyares was not there.

This was just a handful of tired old Republicans, such as Amanda Chase (who lost the primary) who can’t move on. The rest of Virginia has. This rally was not helpful. We have a great opportunity this election cycle to elect a smart, diverse slate of candidates and offer Virginians a better path than we currently have in the Commonwealth and we should be talking about the future, not the past.

Of course, this ridiculous event basically gave Terry the perfect opportunity to tweet on-cue: “Glenn Youngkin was endorsed again tonight by Donald Trump at a rally where attendees pledged allegiance to a flag flown at the deadly January 6th insurrection. Beyond disturbing, this is sick. And Glenn is honored to have Trump’s endorsement.”

No he’s not. Just stop.

McAuliffe is panicking right now, being dragged down by our current president Joe Biden. So of course he’s going to try to drag Youngkin down by associating him with former president Trump. See how that works? The Democrats thought this was going to be a walk in the park. They are shocked to find out that Virginians really are looking for something other than another four years of McAuliffe. They’ll try anything to stop that from happening. Especially repeating things that are not true. Do not be fooled.
