Blue Ridge Mountain High

Riding the Blue Ridge Parkway is a favorite pastime but last week’s extraordinary weather made a drive to the high ridges a high priority. With temps topping out at 66 degrees with low humidity three weeks into June, it made for a pleasant day to follow trails and check out overlooks. We covered from Milepost 1 at Afton Mountain to Milepost 26 at Route 56, and back again. Come along on our ride.

Paving is taking place in overlooks and Humpback picnic area.

This tree in one of the overlooks is covered with poison ivy every year. This year is no exception. Leaves of three, let them be.
