Former Virginia Rep. Barbara Comstock Joins the Call for Impeachment
Former Virginia Congresswoman Barbara Comstock has joined other former members of the U.S. House of Representatives in calling for the impeachment of President Donald J. Trump.
On Tuesday she said:
“Every minute he’s there, we are in danger, because this is somebody who is still, I think, a threat in how he talks to his supporters, the people who came and rioted and pillaged the Capitol. And then he told them you’re special people. He still hasn’t denounced them, even though he said he doesn’t want any violence.
“I think the way he’s saying, ‘Hey, if you impeach me, you don’t know what might happen’ — that itself is why we should have impeachment to address these conspiracies and to make sure the people understand how wrong and out of line and beyond anything we’ve ever seen before this has been.”
Rep. Comstock was critical of Donald Trump while representing the 10th Congressional District, made up of some of northern Virginia’s suburbs, from 2015-19, one of the few Republicans who would stand up to him. But Trump was so unpopular in her district that she lost reelection because of the president during the 2018 blue wave.
Impeachment proceedings take place on January 13, 2021.
