First time ever … the New England Journal of Medicine, for the first time in over 200 years, has weighed in on this presidential election and the need to have someone in charge who knows how to protect  the American people from a global pandemic (Dying in a Leadership Vacuum ).
NEJM was not the first medical journal to urge the ousting of Trump … in May The Lancet, also non-partisan or political until 2020, urged that Trump be replaced (The Lancet editorial , May 16, 2020).
Exiting the U.S. Senate … PA Republican Pat Toomey becomes the latest to announce retirement from Congress , becoming one of the 40 percent of Republicans who have left since 2016.
Quarantining when crossing state borders … required by some states  such as Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Maine, and Vermont. Currently high risk states include Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, Colorado, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Guam, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, North Carolina, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Puerto Rico, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, West Virginia, Wisconsin, and Wyoming.
Non-disclosures for medical staff? Trump required it  of Walter Reed doctors in an unexpected 2019 hospital visit (we still don’t know why). At least two doctors who refused to sign were not allowed to be part of the medical team treating the president.
Coronavirus at the White House … 34 now disclosed as positive  for Covid-19.
Latest Fox News poll  … Biden 53%, Trump 43%. Those who favor wearing masks, 72%. Majority of voters said leave Roe v Wade as it is, 61%, versus 28% who want it overturned.
American ingenuity … a college senior “helped develop a real-time tracking tool to monitor the growing number of people in President Trump’s circle who were exposed or infected with COVID-19.” The website is called COVID-19 at the White House. 
Step up those security details … six militia members plotted to try and kidnap Michigan Democratic Gov. Gretchen Whitmer  at her vacation home, according to the Detroit Free Press . Know any of these guys? The criminal complaint identified the six as Adam Fox, Ty Garbin, Kaleb Franks, Daniel Harris, Brandon Caserta, all of Michigan, and Barry Croft of Delaware.
