Election 2020: In-Person Absentee Voting Has Begun In Virginia

Friday, September 18, is the first day of in-person absentee voting, and will last through October 31 at 5:00 p.m.

Thanks to a change passed by the 2019 General Assembly, Virginia now enjoys no-excuse voting; that is, you don’t have to give a reason for why you want to vote absentee as has always been necessary in the past.

Election Day is Tuesday, November 3, from 6:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. just as usual, and at your usual voting location. If there are questions about where to vote, contact you county or city Registrar.

Candidates on the ballot will include President, U.S. Senate, and U.S. House, as well as two Virginia constitutional amendments [1].

October 13 is the last day to register to vote in this year’s election.

October 23 is the last day to apply for an absentee mail-in ballot. As long as the mail-in ballot is postmarked by November 3 (Election Day) and received at the registrar’s office by noon on November 6, it will be counted.
