6th District Unassembled Convention Removes Absentee Vote Option
From Jennifer M. Brown, Chairwoman, 6th Congressional District Republican Committee….
Earlier this evening the 6th District GOP Executive Committee voted to amend the method of their convention, scheduled for Saturday, July 11th from a regular convention to an unassembled convention.
The Committee came to the decision as a way to ensure that the health and wellbeing of those who wish to participate in the process was taken into account and abides by the State’s mandate on assembled gatherings.
The motion that passed changed the rules to accommodate the following changed:
a) Hold an Unassembled Convention on July 11 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.;
b) At Thomas Road Baptist Church with three separate polling locations for each region in the attached parking lots.
THERE IS NO LONGER AN ABSENTEE VOTING OPTION.
Earlier today, a minority called meeting was scheduled for Friday, July 10 at 7:00 p.m., THE NIGHT BEFORE THE CONVENTION, in order to determine the final disposition of the convention. While the motion is to hold an unassembled convention at this time, and a promise was made to move forward with an unassembled convention without the absentee provision, my opponent is now reneging on his promise to move forward as decided.
ON JULY 11, THERE WILL BE A 6TH DISTRICT CONVENTION AT THOMAS ROAD BAPTIST CHURCH.
