6th District GOP Votes for Unassembled Convention

Press release from Jennifer Brown, Chairwoman of the 6th Congressional District Republican Committee….

On July 1, 2020, the 6th District GOP Executive Committee voted to change the method of its convention, scheduled for Saturday, July 11th, from a regular convention to an unassembled convention.

The Committee came to the decision as a way to ensure that the health and well-being of those who wish to participate in the process was taken into account and abides by the mandate on assembled gatherings.

The motion adopted is as follows:

a) Hold an Unassembled Convention on July 11 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.;

b) At Thomas Road Baptist Church with three separate polling locations for each region in the attached parking lots; and

c) Provide that absentee voting will be allowed for those unable to participate in person due to COVID-19 by using ElectionRunner.com; and that

d) An additional Committee be created with one representative each to be chosen by Chairman Brown and Vice Chairman Massoud by no later than July 2, 2020, at noon to serve as Administrators to ElectionRunner.com. If one is not submitted by noon, one will be chosen by the Executive Committee; and that

e) The Administrators will work in tandem with Chairmen of the Credentials, Rules, and Election Committees to provide a fair absentee voting process.

Over the next several days, the 6th District Committee will do all that it can to make sure that all Delegates to the convention will be informed of these changes.
