Wilson Plans to Make Virginia Red Again; Has Filed to Run for RPV Chairmanship

Have you ever been in one of those situations where you are looking in, with a solid appreciation of the past, and could clearly see a positive future,  but had to wait to share that path? That wait can be hard, but as with all things in politics, timing is everything.

Well, this particular wait is over. I am honored (tickled pink, actually) to share this news release!  Mr. Jack R. Wilson, III, has decided to seek his own term as Chairman of the Republican Party of Virginia.

Mr. Wilson ascended to the chairmanship when former Chairman John Whitbeck resigned mid-term. I respect Mr. Wilson for his willingness to do so because he didn’t have the advantage of starting fresh with his own agenda, crafted from collaboration with leaders in the party throughout the state. Nor did he have his choice of professionals from which to work with and count on. Yes, he could have fired the staff at RPV and started anew, but that just isn’t Mr. Wilson’s style.

The Republican Party of Virginia needed him, and he was there.

I have known Mr. Wilson for over 20 years. We don’t always agree, but he has always been willing to sit down and forge a consensus when it seemed unlikely that anyone could. His solid reputation as a problem solver is equal to that of his honest willingness to listen to both sides of any argument. He is more conservative than 99 percent of Republicans. He has the experience and personality to bring people together, and a keen eye for spotting both potential and talent in folks that will be needed to recruit fresh candidates and grow the membership of the RPV.

Mr. Wilson also has something most people in the party have been “rightly” demanding … he has a plan … A Plan to Make Virginia Red Again. He is asking for the opportunity to put it into action, and I believe he has earned the right to do it his own way. A new plan … to renew the RPV … at the dawn of a new decade.

Now, on to Mr. Wilson’s statement:

Jack Wilson Files for Chairman of the Republican Party of Virginia

Today, Chairman Jack Wilson commented on his filing for re-election as Chairman of the Republican Party of Virginia:

“Virginia and our nation are at a crossroads, and the year 2020 will be crucial in deciding what route our Commonwealth and our Country take. At this critical time, when our liberties and our Constitution are under assault, we need strong leadership, relevant experience, good judgment and new ideas at the helm of our Party to steer Republicans to victory. And that is why I am running for re-election as Chairman of the Republican Party of Virginia.

As I have traveled to every corner of the Commonwealth, I have heard a loud and constant call to action from Party Leaders and Grassroots Activists alike: ‘We must win again.’ I could not agree more; and as your Chairman I will lead us to do just that. Whether its voter registration, candidate recruitment, fund-raising or standing strong against the liberal Democrat Agenda, we will accomplish our goals and we will win again. And, we will do it as a unified, positive and well-run Party.

There is much work to do this year, and together we will do it. First, we will focus on re-electing President Trump by winning in Virginia. And, we will contest every Congressional race as well as the U. S. Senate race, on our way to increasing Republican representation in Washington.

I ask Virginia Republicans everywhere to join with me as we make winning a reality in Virginia once again.”
