GOP House Leader Named 2019 Legislator of the Year by the Virginia Chamber of Commerce

Virginia House of Delegates Speaker Kirk Cox was honored Wednesday night as the 2019 House Legislator of the Year by the Virginia Chamber of Commerce for his work to advance pro-business legislation that focuses on creating jobs, building our economy, and attracting businesses to open or expand in Virginia.

“It is a great honor to be named Legislator of the Year by the Virginia Chamber of Commerce, an organization that works so diligently to grow, protect, and support our thriving business climate here in the Commonwealth,” said Speaker Cox. “Getting students from the classroom into great paying jobs is vital if we want to continue developing tomorrow’s workforce and tomorrow’s leaders. If we give students the tools to succeed, businesses the ability to thrive and families the opportunity to be successful our economy will be unparalleled. These goals are what the House of Delegates focused on this year and I thank the Chamber of Commerce for their tireless support of these principles.”

The award is given out each year by the Chamber of Commerce and was presented to Speaker Cox at the Chamber’s Annual Dinner on Wednesday night.

His leadership in the House was instrumental in approving a balanced budget and much-needed tax relief for the Commonwealth.”

Speaker Cox was also awarded the 2019 Free Enterprise Award along with nearly two dozen other Republican members of the House of Delegates. The Free Enterprise Award recognizes legislators for their efforts in supporting legislation to improve our Commonwealth’s overall economic climate.
