HD-25 Firehouse Primary Results for Retiring Steve Landes’ Seat
On Saturday the 25th House of Delegates district held a firehouse primary to elect a Republican candidate to replace Delegate Steve Landes, who has represented the district for years, who will retire at the end of his term in November.
Chris Runion of Rockingham County won Republicans nomination in the November general election. Two other candidates, Augusta County Supervisor Marshall Pattie and Albemarle County farmer Richard Fox also ran for the seat.
The official results were:
Chris Runion: 42%
Marshall Pattie: 34%
Richard Fox: 24%
GOP House Speaker Kirk Cox congratulated Chris Runion: “I’m proud to congratulate Chris on becoming the Republican nominee in the 25th House District. Chris will be a solid voice for the Shenandoah Valley, a great addition to our Republican Caucus, and to the Virginia House of Delegates. I look forward to working with him to advance our shared, common-sense agenda for many years to come.”
Speaker Cox also thanked the opponents: “Running for office isn’t easy under the best of circumstances. It’s even more difficult to do on short notice, and I want to thank Marshall and Richard for stepping forward to run,” Cox said. “Standing for elected office is one of the most difficult things a citizen can do, and these gentlemen answered the call to public service. I have no doubt that they’ll both answer the call to public service again.”
Pattie will serve out his term as supervisor through December 31, 2019.
The general election will take place on Tuesday, November 5.
