The Score’s Interview Subject Wins Pulitzer for Douglass Biography

A note to our readers and listeners:

David Blight Frederick DouglassBiographer David W. Blight, who was interviewed by The Score at the Virginia Festival of the Book in Charlottesville last month, was awarded the Pulitzer Prize in History [1] today for his 2018 book, Frederick Douglass: Prophet of Freedom [2].

Our interview with Blight made two appearances on The Score, including a preview asking “Was Frederick Douglass a Libertarian? [3]” and the full interview a few days later under the headline [4] “Frederick Douglass, Embassy Bombings, Campus Speech, Electoral College.”

Later this evening, I will post video of Blight’s panel discussion at the book festival, which included a conversation with fellow historian Raymond Arsenault, who wrote a biography of tennis champion and civil rights activist Arthur Ashe. Watch this space for updates.

Later this week, The Score will feature interviews with Phil Kerpen of American Commitment on payday lending regulations and with author Tim Schenck on his book, Holy Grounds: The Surprising Connection between Coffee and Faith – From Dancing Goats to Satan’s Drink [5].
