State Senator Frank Wagner (R-7th Senate District), 66, has announced his retirement from the Virginia State Senate.
Originally elected to the House of Delegates where he served from 1992-2001, he was elected to the Senate in a special election on December 19, 2000. His district represents Virginia Beach and Norfolk.
Names to look at for possible replacements:
-Del. Chris Stolle
-Carolyn Weems, a member of the Virginia Beach (VB) School Board
-Ashley McCloud, former VB school board member
-Jim Wood, VB City Councilman
-Brad Martin, former VB City Councilman
Sen. Wagner is the second Republican state senator to announce his retirement this week (Sen. Bill Carrico announced he would not seek re-election [1]) and the third Republican legislator (Del. Steve Landes announced he would not run for re-election [2]).
