Will Chris Runion Be the First Republican to Announce for Steve Landes Seat?
Chris Runion, a small business owner from Rockingham County, will hold a press conference Wednesday in Bridgewater. Word on the street is he will announce as a candidate for House of Delegates 25th District, the seat that will be vacated by Steve Landes.
Runion would be the first Republican to announce. Two Democratic candidates, Albemarle resident Lauren Thompson and Augusta resident Jennifer Kitchen, will face off for their party’s nomination.
With a 24-hour window between Landes’ Tuesday announcement that he would not run for re-election, that caught many constituents by surprise, and Wednesday’s 5:00 pm filing deadline, and with a $1,000 filing fee, the field of contenders may be small.

Announcement Set for Wednesday Regarding the 25th House of Delegates District
Chris Runion and other community leaders will be making an important announcement regarding the 2019 election for the 25th House of Delegates District at 12:00 pm on Wednesday, March 6 at the Bridgewater Town Hall.
Chris Runion is a longtime Republican, small business owner, and community leader from Rockingham County. Born and raised in the Shenandoah Valley, Chris has served his community as Vice Chair of the Rockingham County Republicans, on the Rockingham County Planning Commission, as a member of the NFIB State Leadership Council, President of the Harrisonburg-Rockingham Chamber of Commerce, Chairman of Shenandoah Valley Economic Education, and in the Rotary, most recently as the District Governor during the 2016-2017 term. Chris and Jennifer, his wife of 38 years, live on a small farm outside the town of Bridgewater.
