John Avoli Announces in Staunton for HOD-20 Seat

Saturday’s snow held off long enough to allow former Staunton Mayor John Avoli to announce that he had thrown his name into the arena to seek the Republican nomination for delegate of the soon-to-be-open 20th House seat that was first occupied by former Delegate Chris Saxman and currently by Dickie Bell.

In front of a crowd of hardy supporters that included his wife and grandchildren, he kept his remarks to the point and brief with an eye on the overcast, wintry sky that later dropped half a foot of snow on the area.

Standing behind Avoli on the steps of the Augusta County Courthouse in downtown Staunton were his wife Lynn, daughter and son-in-law, and grandchildren as well as Augusta supervisor Butch Wells and Augusta businessman Scott Cline.
