On August 14, 2018, the Augusta County Republican Committee passed a motion in support of Sixth District Republican Chairman Jennifer Brown. Members of the committee publicly showed they backed her leadership in the face of headwinds [1], noting that when she won [2] at May’s Sixth District Convention, she carried 10 of the 17 units.
Here is the motion of support passed by Augusta County Republicans:
Augusta County Republican Committee: A Motion of Support for Jennifer Brown, Sixth District Chairman
Whereas, the Augusta County Republican Committee is located wholly within Virginia’s Sixth Congressional District; and
Whereas, at the Sixth Congressional District Republican Committee held its Biennial Convention on May 19th, 2018 and elected Jennifer M. Brown as its Sixth District Committee Chairman; and
Whereas, all three regions, Northern, Central and Southern, of the Sixth District voted for Jennifer M. Brown; and
Whereas, ten of the seventeen units of the Sixth District voted for Jennifer M. Brown; and
Whereas, Augusta County voted resoundingly for Jennifer M. Brown; and
Whereas, Jennifer M. Brown has been performing her position exceptionally well; now, therefore be it
RESOLVED, that the Augusta County Republican Committee fully supports our duly elected Chair, Jennifer M. Brown and her efforts to bring unity and leadership to the Sixth District; and, be it also
RESOLVED, that the Augusta County Republican Committee fully supports Jennifer M. Brown efforts to elect Ben Cline and Corey Stewart to their respective offices; and, be it also
RESOLVED, that Ken Elkins, or his proxy, is our voice on the Sixth District Committee and with that voice, Ken Elkins is our representative and our vote; and, be it also
RESOLVED, that any attempt by our Chairman, Ken Elkins, or his proxy, to sanction or remove Jennifer M. Brown would be in direct opposition to the will of the Augusta County Republican Committee; and, be it also
RESOLVED, that we, the members of the Augusta County Republican Committee, give notice that our Chairman, Ken Elkins, or his proxy, shall first consult and advise the committee immediately on any attempts that he is aware of, to remove, sanction, or embarrass Jennifer M. Brown; and, be it also
RESOLVED, that the Chairman, Ken Elkins or his proxy, shall oppose any attempts to vote for the removal or sanctions against Jennifer M. Brown; and be it also
RESOLVED, that the Chairman, Ken Elkins or his proxy, shall call and consult with the Augusta County Republican Committee membership at a duly called meeting before casting any votes to remove or sanction Jennifer M. Brown.
