Chaz Haywood Officially in Race for 6th Congressional District Seat
Chaz Haywood’s official announcement that he is in the U.S. Congress race in the 6th District came through a little after 1:00 on Tuesday afternoon:
Friends and Neighbors,
As I was considering my decision to run for Congress, I took a road trip with my youngest daughter to watch our National Champion Dukes continue their winning streak against Elon. As we drove down the Shenandoah Valley – roads I’ve travelled hundreds of times in service to constituents – my daughter and I talked about what it means to be a public servant. Public service is the foundation of our Constitutional Republic, ensuring that the next generation – your children and mine – have access to the guarantees of our democracy set forth by our founding fathers.
It’s because of my commitment to public service – and to our next generation – that I’m proud to announce that I’m seeking the Republican nomination to represent the sixth congressional district in the U.S. House of Representatives.
We – you – deserve better. Congress has forgotten that “of the people, by the people, and for the people” means just that. We need a government that works for us and with us. We need public servants who understand the sacrifices made by our military men and women. We need representatives who know firsthand the challenges of providing for their families.
As a lifelong public servant, a proud veteran, and a committed father, I’m ready to serve – working closely with my colleagues in the House and Senate and alongside our President – to advance legislation that reduces burdensome regulation, brings jobs and economic prosperity back to our nation, and lays the foundation for a strong future.
I promise to be the candidate who knows how to take a government office and run it like a business – efficiently, fairly, and transparently.
I promise to stand with President Trump in his efforts to improve business and job growth, protecting our manufacturing jobs here and working to bring back jobs lost overseas.
I promise to be a strong voice for national defense, and to serve the interests of our military men and women at home and abroad – advocating for better mental health services and support.
And with the experience of working as your local Clerk of Court, I promise to support our law enforcement officers, respecting and defending all those who put their life on the line to keep our neighborhoods safe.
In the coming weeks, I look forward to meeting with each and every one of you to listen to your concerns and share my platform for prosperity. And just as I commit to standing for your issues in the U.S. Congress, I thank you for standing with me in this election.
God bless you and your family. God bless our great Commonwealth. And God bless the United States of America.
