On Thursday night Majority Leader Kirk Cox endorsed Delegate Glenn Davis [1]for Lieutenant Governor at an event in downtown Richmond that was hosted by such well-known names as Linwood Cobb, Donald Williams, Stuart Farrell, Kishore Thota, Tony Pham, Roger Jarrell, and Bill Harvill.
Davis, 42, announced his candidacy [2]in March 2016 after the close of General Assembly. A business owner and entrepreneur, he literally started his first company out of his one-bedroom apartment, growing it in 2007 into one of the 100 fastest growing IT companies in America, as recognized by Inc. Magazine. In the House of Delegates, he has continued to champion pro-business and job creation policies, earning the Virginia Chamber of Commerce Freshman Legislator of the Year award in 2014.
That’s the kind of leadership we need to bring jobs and businesses to the Commonwealth. As Davis often notes while on the campaign trail, it’s time to once again make Virginia the number one business state in the country as it was during the administration of Governor Bob McDonnell.

In August I sat down with him to listen as he talked about his reasons for running, and to discuss a number of issues (see As Lt. Governor, Glenn Davis Would Make Jobs His Priority [4]). Undecided about a candidate, I was pleasantly pleased with what I heard, what he had accomplished, his philanthropy (something he did not talk about but I found it while doing some research), his vision for the future of the Commonwealth, his sense of business, and his energy and enthusiasm. He was friendly, down-to-earth, and genuine. I don’t say that about many politicos.
Representing the 84th House District in the Virginia House of Delegates, Glenn Davis represents part of Virginia Beach where he lives with his wife Chelle. Prior to his election to the House, he was a member of the Virginia Beach City Council, and has served on numerous boards and commissions.
The endorsement by Delegate Cox shows confidence in this young legislator who, along with his campaign manager Cole Trower, continues to crisscross the state in his quest to meet and talk with as many people as possible.
Virginia’s statewide primary will take place on Tuesday, June 13, when voters will choose candidates for Governor, Lieutenant Governor, and Attorney General. The General Election will be held on November 7, 2017.
