Interviews from the Advance

I had an opportunity about a week and a half ago to attend the RPV Advance. I had no plans to do interviews at the Advance. That all changed when Mike Rubino, Senior Advisor to the Trump campaign in Virginia, grabbed me in the hall of the Omni Richmond Hotel. Last week, you got a chance to hear my interview with Mike. Now, I’ve got more interviews for your listening pleasure. I do apologize in Advance, the audio quality is not the best. However, I hope you enjoy these interviews!

My first interview was with Denver Riggleman, Nelson County Distillery Owner and potential candidate for Governor. Like I mentioned in the interview, Riggleman is an intriguing individual. He’s a self-proclaimed “non-conformist Republican” who was in the military and likes to make whiskey. What’s not to like about that? There is one thing that goes without saying. Riggleman could bust this gubernatorial campaign wide open with his populist message (and giving out his homemade free whiskey at the Advance certainly helps). Speaking of which, I didn’t get any…Mr. Riggleman, if you’re reading this, I like bourbon.

Secondly, I got a chance to talk to John Adams, who is running for Attorney General. Since State Senator Bill Stanley decided not to run for Attorney General, Adams is the odds-on favorite for the AG nomination. With the way the field currently looks, John Adams is Virginia Republican’s best bet. He’s well educated, has a resume that most candidates would die for, and has the brains to back up the resume. I enjoyed my time with John, so take a listen.

Next, I got a chance to talk to Delegate Glenn Davis, candidate for Lieutenant Governor. Delegate Davis showed a lot of courage and enthusiasm in his interview. Most candidates would not want to be interviewed by someone who has endorsed their opponent (full disclosure, I endorsed Jill Vogel for LG months ago).

While his rivals, Vogel and Reeves, are running a traditional campaign; Davis is running a campaign like we’ve rarely ever seen. Delegate Davis is constantly on social media, running a true grassroots campaign, and is developing a large following with millennial Republicans. Conventional wisdom would say that due to Vogel’s fundraising strength and Reeves institutional advantage, Davis is shut out of the nomination process. However, Davis is running like he’s the frontrunner. No matter what happens in June, Delegate Davis has a future in the Republican Party of Virginia.

Lastly, I got a chance to talk to my friend Ed Gillespie. Ed is the former Republican National Committee Chairman and former Republican candidate for United States Senate in Virginia. It’s no secret that I support Ed Gillespie, I’ve wrote very glowingly about him in the past.  The topics we discussed in our interview are reasons why I support Gillespie. This is not his first foray into politics. Ed has been on the forefront of every major decision in our party for the past 20 years. He’s worked for Dick Armey and helped write the “Contract for America,” ran the RNC, advised President Bush, and ran the successful “RedState” program that flipped over 900+ state legislature seats from Democrat to Republican. I’ve interviewed and wrote about Ed many times. He has a great team and is someone who is easy to work with.

I hope you enjoy these interviews as much as I enjoyed making them!
