Trump Delivers on Campaign Promise – Brings Free Market to Virginia

It’s August.

This is the time of vacations, pennant race baseball (the most important of anything written in this post), the Olympics, and back-to-school preparation.

It’s also this dormant period in a presidential election cycle where things can get odd.

As posted here on Bearing Drift earlier, Rep. Scott Rigell (I-VA02) made the dramatic proclamation that he was going to support Gary Johnson for President. This sent Virginia Beach “Republicans” (aka Tea Party insurgents who have claimed the party as theirs because mainstream Republicans sat around and gave it to them – not to mention those who truly were masquerading and should have been Democrats all along) apoplectic.

I’m sure there are plenty of people who feel Rigell “betrayed” their trust. However, I’m sure there are plenty of others who think a man like Rigell – a former Marine – is convicted that the free market, personal responsibility and individual liberty is “kind of, sort of” the definition of what a Republican used to be (should be?). Hey, have I heard this idea before?

The reality is that it is easy to see the “Ivory Soap Model” on full display from the alt-Right. I mean, even fellow colleague Shaun Kenney – hardly a shrinking violet of a conservative – was recently wire-brushed over his ancestry on Facebook from people who feel they must cleanse conservatism of its heretics. I won’t belabor this point, but it was disturbing and disgusting.

But back to Trump and Virginia and what’s happening here and why he delivered on his promise – big time.

So, Trump likes to go around talking about how great he is…how the polls show he’s doing great…how America will be great again with him at the helm…and how “crooked” Hillary is stealing this election with a complicit media.

Cool, I know, right? Really inspirational stuff.

So cool that here’s your Virginia campaign apparatus:

1) Want a bumper sticker? You’ve got to pay for it.
2) A unit committee wants to stock its shelves with campaign material? Better shell out.
3) Want signs delivered to you? Be prepared to stroke a check of a couple hundred bucks…at least.

I’m sorry, wasn’t this the very same candidate who said he’s self-funding his campaign? Apparently “self-funding” means free-market principles: You want a sign? Buy it. Bumper sticker? Better have some coin!

Here’s how bad it is – at recent GOP event they were passing around door hangers and saying “don’t take them all, we don’t have enough!”

It’s also being relayed to BD that committees are being told to “ice” their volunteers until 1) there’s a plan and 2) there’s actually something for them to do.

Of course, if you do want free SWAG, you can always go to the Virginia Beach office and get stuff that lampoons the Democrat:

enough

Makes you feel real confident, no? No. Makes me look to see what are my other options.

Well, someone’s confident. Hillary has not only pulled her ad campaign out of Virginia, but we know the PAC is leaving too.

Of course, there is another candidate who hasn’t lied to us.
