Vogel endorsed by Buchanan and Hedlund
State Senator Jill Vogel, candidate for the Republican nomination for lieutenant governor, has picked up key support in Virginia’s 5th and 7th Congressional Districts.
Vogel has been endorsed by chairman of the Virginia Tea Party Patriot Federation, Rick Buchanan, who is also a vice chairman of the GOP’s 5th Congressional District and by Ron Hedlund, who was critical in helping elect Rep. Dave Brat to congress. Hedlund is also a member of the Republican Party of Virginia’s State Central Committee in the 7th Congressional District.
“Let me start by saying I am deeply disappointed in the direction our Commonwealth is headed. Virginia families have been abandoned by the Richmond political elite, who continue to work for their own personal and political gain rather than the advancement of the Constitutional First Principles Virginia was founded upon. Our values have been left by the wayside at a time when Virginia is facing a leadership deficit,” said Buchanan.
Buchanan continued, “For this reason, among others, I have considered Senator Jill Vogel’s candidacy and will be proud to support her campaign for Lieutenant Governor. As I have gotten to know Jill, I’ve determined that she is genuine, real, and leads by Principle first. Her values and commitment to our Constitutional First Principles have guided her work in the public sector and legislature.”
“As an original member of the ‘Brat Pack,’ I look forward to working with Jill to build a grassroots leadership team committed to this vision. We owe it to the future generations of Virginians to begin the work of building a conservative ticket dedicated to preserving our Constitutional civil liberties, pushing back on our growing, out-of-touch government, and restoring the People’s trust in their elected officials. That ticket should include Jill, and I hope you will join me in support of her candidacy. Importantly, I will be working alongside Jill and our party’s leadership to ensure we elect Donald Trump and Mike Pence our next president and vice-president of this great United States.”
With these two endorsements, it would appear Senator Vogel is attempting to position herself as the “outsider” in this campaign.
