Senator Siobhan Dunnavant Endorses John Adams for Attorney General

In an exclusive for Bearing Drift, State Senator and rising political star in the Republican Party of Virginia Siobhan Dunnavant endorses John Adams for Virginia Attorney General.

“As a doctor, I am trained to diagnose a problem and prescribe a solution.  The problem in Virginia is we have an Attorney General who routinely ignores the Constitution, laws passed by the General Assembly, and the will of the people of Virginia, in order to advance a political agenda,” said Senator Dunnavant.  “The solution is to elect an Attorney General with outstanding legal qualifications and management experience, combined with a life long commitment to our Constitution, the rule of law, and public service.  John Adams is that candidate.”

“It’s also refreshing to have someone who has never run for office and brings real experience to the job and a fresh perspective,” Senator Dunnavant continued. “Like me when I chose to run for Senate last year after a career in medicine, John has taken a look at what is at stake for Virginia in this next election and answered the call to run for office, after serving as a Naval Officer and enjoying a distinguished legal career.”

“I am thrilled for Virginia that he has now answered the call to run for office,” stated Senator Dunnavant.  “Virginia needs a new lawyer and John is clearly the most qualified candidate in the race for the Republican nomination to challenge Mark Herring.  I fully endorse John Adams for Attorney General.”

John Adams responded, “I am humbled to have the endorsement of Senator Dunnavant.  First and foremost, she is a principled conservative who is dedicated to standing up for Virginia taxpayers and protecting innocent life.  As a successful doctor and business owner, she is not a career politician but a citizen-servant who saw a need and had the courage to stand up and make things better.  We are lucky to have her leadership in the General Assembly.”   

Senator Dunnavant is from Henrico, where last year she won a competitive four-way primary to become the nominee. Since then, she has worked in Richmond to advocate for free market healthcare reform. She is also passionately pro-life , having worked with the Little Sisters of the Poor in Henrico.

Adams is a first-time candidate for Attorney General and works in government investigations at McGuire Woods. He has previously served our country in the United States Navy, graduated law school from UVA, clerked for Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, served as White House Counsel to President George W. Bush, and was as an Assistant United States’ Attorney for the Eastern District.

Adams has never run for office before. If he can combine some institutional support in the party with the outsider message, it could prove very effective in a convention.

Questions remain if other family members will join Senator Siobhan Dunnavant in endorsing Adams. She is a member of the Stolle family from Eastern Virginia – sister of both Delegate Chris Stolle and Virginia Beach Sheriff Chris Stolle. When Ken Stolle endorsed Scott Taylor for Congress, it was considered a blow to Randy Forbes.

We are a long way away from the 2017 convention, but more endorsements like these could really help first-time candidate Adams.
