Conservatives Sweep in Chesapeake

chesapeake_council [1]While the rest of the commonwealth wants to lament the death of conservatism, one part of our state reelected the Republican mayor, three members of city council and four members of the school board.

Chesapeake voters, in a loud and sound unified voice, didn’t say “never Trump,” utter anything about John Whitbeck, bitch about conventions or primaries, or delve into the seemingly incessant pettiness that divides the GOP. Chesapeake voters simply voted for good government.

Voting for low taxes, high property values, superior schools, excellent public safety and continued transportation improvements, Mayor Alan Krasnoff, Councilmembers Debbie Ritter, Rick West and Robert Ike, and School Board members Tom Mercer, Victoria Proffitt, Sam Boone, and Jeff Bunn were given another term by Chesapeake voters.

In this community – which boasts many former military – Republicans simply work hard. Unified. We have respect for each other. When in disagreement, we talk it out…in private. And then we just win.

Not a crazy formula. And, hopefully, a lesson learned elsewhere.

Good government is not hard to find…in Chesapeake.
