It’s not as if we as Americans want to telegraph our vulnerabilities to ISIS, but in this case, they probably already know anyway.
This vignette from a friend tonight on Facebook merely confirms the Washington Metro Area Transit Authority’s inability to perform even a modest security request:
“I knew WMATA is incompetent, but this is beyond anything I’ve ever experienced. I was just getting on the metro after work and a man dropped his bag in front of me and told me to watch it. Before I could object, he ran away. I tried reporting this to the station manager, but they weren’t in their booth, so I called the metro emergency hotline only to have the phone ring for 5 min and go to voicemail. I was about to call 911 but finally someone returned my call and they’re sending the police, but seriously metro? ISIS threatened the DC area and you can’t even pick up your emergency hotline?”
