Don’t worry folks — the Democrats have their problems, too.
This one comes from Kim Adkins’ husband… publishing an op-ed in the Roanoke Times [1]:
Conclusion: Kim’s numbers are better than they appear. With only 39,000 people voting, it proved too difficult to overcome. If, however, voter turnout in 2015 was the same as 2011 or 2014, Kim wins the election. The only way to drive up voter turnout is funding from the state party. By funding three losing campaigns instead of Kim’s, the State Party made the wrong call.
Nevermind the fact that Adkins could not identify the geographical boundaries of her prospective district early in the campaign, much less fix the ills that have plagued Martinsville.
When government is your god, expect the acolytes to fight amongst themselves quite a bit.
More to the point, this does illustrate the immense undercurrents within the Democratic Party in Virginia right now. Defeat snatched from the jaws of victory, so they say. Perhaps so… but it does go to show that the other side has their problems as well.
