McDonnell denied en banc hearing

Former Gov. Bob McDonnell’s request for an en banc hearing before the full 4th Circuit Court of Appeals has been denied [1]:

The former governor filed a “notice of appeal” in early March for the 11 counts of public corruption charges against him. In the appeal, he argued that his convictions were based on a definition of bribery that would make virtually every politician a criminal. On July 10, a federal appeals court upheld the public corruption conviction against him.

Then, in July, McDonnell formally filed for his appeal on federal corruption charges to be heard by a full 15-judge panel.

He has been allowed to remain free as his case was under consideration in the appeals process.

He still has the option of a Supreme Court appeal.
