Redistricting Redux likely in Virginia

Alabama’s redistricting trial has been heard by SCOTUS and they have ruled that the state “may have illegally concentrated African-American voters into a handful of legislative districts” according to the Wall Street Journal [1].

This means that Virginia’s tribulations with minority-majority districts may be quickly accelerating to a special session.

Developing…

Update 1: As a point of clarity, Virginia has always been on the hook to act by September 1 or 60 days after a new order from the three-judge panel in the Congressional case. While the appeal is still pending, given this ruling, it is highly unlikely that the Virginia appeal will move forward. Of course, I could be wrong.

Update 2: It should be noted that it looks like this will only affect congressional lines. The state line case is still well behind the congressional suit.
