Thomas, Tyler drop out, Sturtevant all but certain GOP nominee in 10th

The race for the 10th Senate district GOP nomination is pretty much decided [1]:

Bruce Tyler and Stephen Thomas have dropped out of the running for the seat of retiring state Sen. John Watkins, R-Powhatan, leaving Richmond School Board member Glen Sturtevant as the likely Republican nominee.

Thursday is the filing deadline for the June 9 primary. The 10th District includes parts of the city of Richmond and Chesterfield County and all of Powhatan.

The Tyler candidacy never made much sense to me, and Thomas’s campaign never seemed to gain any traction. Sturtevant, however, has been doing everything a candidate needs to do in order to secure the nomination.

That leaves the intramural sparring, then, to the Democrats, who have at least two and possibly three candidates for the nomination.

Jim’s interview with Sturtevant can be heard here [2].
