Why doesn’t Obama take on Hollywood’s drug use?

Over the last few days, the coverage of the death of Philip Seymour Hoffman has had me wondering about the double standards we allow in society and in Obama’s administration.

Reports of 50 bags of heroin found in the apartment where the dead actor was found left little doubt about what happened. Other reports show Hoffman binging for weeks on illegal substances, according to “sources”

What got to me were the many quotes from Hollywood stars who talked about Hoffman’s death like he died of natural causes, all applauding his great talent and sad of his passing.

Why do we shrug when entertainers die from drugs?

Some point out the hypocrisy and get slammed for it.

“Supernatural” actor Jared Padalecki drew criticism for tweets suggesting he found Philip Seymour Hoffman’s death “stupid” and “senseless.”

“‘Sad’ isn’t the word I’d use to describe a 46-year-old man throwing his life away to drugs,” Padalecki wrote, before deleting the tweet.

“‘Senseless’ is more like it. ‘Stupid.'” (NY Daily News)

Deleted the tweet because of the backlash he got from pointing out that the 46 year old multi-millionairre actor didn’t die of leukemia or pneumonia but with needles in his arms.

Then the story gets out that it might have been “bad heroin” at fault, so the cops jump into action and arrest four people who are accused of selling the rich actor heroin that might be deadly.

Ah, only the deadly kind of heroin gets law enforcement active!

Meanwhile, Obama’s Justice Department is busy trying to convict Bob McDonnell and his wife for charges it was mostly willing to throw out mere months ago, chasing after Chris Christie because someone in the office might have put cones on a bridge, and indicting Dinesh D’Souza for making a movie that Obama didn’t like.

Apparently, D’Souza is the only filmmaker Obama’s willing to investigate.

Maybe it’s the millions upon millions of campaign contributions Obama and the Democratic National Committee get from their Hollywood Heroins that discourage Blind-Eye Barack from enforcing laws on filmmakers not named D’Souza.

If any industry had people dropping dead at 46 from illegal activity the way Hollywood does, there’d be Congressional hearings, investigations from the FBI to Justice, and a real President calling for reform of an industry badly in need of it.

Here’s a nice new rule: Do drugs and lose your Screen Actors Guild membership. One strike. You’re out. Go work for a living.

Hoffman’s autopsy results will be released today, but the Hollywood community will just do what they always do: Include his photo in a memorial at the Oscars, talk about what a great loss his death is, and then move on to the next party, the next binge, the next overdose and the next memorial, again and again and again.
