Here’s what Tim Kaine sold a government appointment for

In 2005, when Tim Kaine was Lt. Governor, he was offered a vacation on the island of Mustique by a member of the Virginia Commission on Higher Education, and Kaine somehow acquired the wisdom after taking the $18,000 gift of this vacation to re-appoint the gift giver to the Board once he became Governor.

The island’s website says “There are not many rules on Mustique, no protocol or expectations. Guests can simply do as they wish.”

Sounds like ethics in the Kaine administration.

That same year, Governor Kaine accepted $3,500 in clothing gifts from Stuart C. Siegal, of S&K fame, to go with $2,000 of clothing Siegal gave him two years earlier. As Governor, Tim Kaine, in a moment [3] of enlightenment, appointed him to the Virginia Racing Commission.

I’m sure Kaine completely forgot the thousands of dollars of clothing that coincidentally led to appointing the gift-giver.

And let’s not forget the thousands of dollars in travel Kaine accepted for trips from the person whom he would reward with the job of Deputy Secretary of Transportation.

Unfortunately, federal prosecutors were too busy those years and never once lifted an eyebrow or launched an investigation into all these gifts and the rewards Kaine lavished on the gift-givers.

Certainly the Washington Post didn’t care. But, of course! Kaine’s a Democrat.
