Well this is an interesting if underplayed development [2]. From the Cuccinelli campaign:
You know I have been hearing from folks about their interest in my position on freedom to farm, something I’m quite familiar with, and of course I’m a strong property rights person. I just wanted to let you all know, that I believe traditional pasture-based farms and the local economies they can help are part of a brighter future for Virginia—both for our people and the environment. I support local farmers being freed to process and sell their farm products locally – marked appropriately so consumers know what they are buying.
Now for folks who have been following the small farmer’s movement in Virginia, this is a big deal.
Frankly, I’m shocked this hasn’t come up as a serious campaign issue.
