Democrats sure love Norfolk.
When they run candidates all over Hampton Roads, do they go to the home districts of those candidates to promote them?
Nah.
Make them all come to Norfolk. That’ll give them a photo-op to use, right?
What’s the campaign slogan? “Virginia Beach, Chesapeake, Williamsburg – be Norfolk instead!”
Norfolk, with unemployment [1] 27% higher than the rest of Virginia and a crime rate [2] placing Norfolk in the top 6% highest crime rate cities in America.
But Norfolk was the place Democrats chose to introduce their candidates throughout Hampton Roads.
Virginia Beach candidate after Virginia Beach candidate stood at a Norfolk podium on a Norfolk street. A Williamsburg candidate traveled pretty far to be in Norfolk, so Norfolk must be pretty important to him. The sad Democrat from Chesapeake was there, too.
The message was clear – whatever city you’re running in, the Democratic Party is really all about Norfolk.
Not that these candidates looked particularly happy to be there.

Apparently, they forgot the Democrat they have running in Newport News, because he wasn’t there and wasn’t even mentioned in the news story.
No matter. The voters will forget him soon enough.
One thing is clear. If your lifelong dream was to make your city more like Norfolk, here’s your slate!
