Earlier, I asked [1] whether Terry McAuliffe’s would-be ticket mates would follow his lead and embrace the coal industry [2] and the jobs it creates as The Macker did during his campaign swing through Bristol.
I wrote that “Perhaps McAuliffe was merely saying what the locals wanted to hear on that topic.” This video clip, taken from a 2009 Democratic gubernatorial debate, adds some clarity:
“We have got to move past coal…as governor, I never want another coal plant built.”
